Variations on a Theme

A member of the New York School that emerged in the mid 20th century, Mark Rothko has come to be regarded as one of America's greatest artists. He had his first solo exhibition in 1961.

I like *some* abstract, especially the stuff that is closer to expressionist, but this kind of thing is exactly why modern art is reviled, and I'd say properly so, by outsiders. $73,000,000 indictment.
