Birds of a Feather

Audubon was trained with famous Neo-Classicist Jacques-Louis David and used his skills to capture the and document the birds of America a scientific and artistic masterpiece. It remains one of the most important works on ornithology.

I was fascinated with these birds as a small child -- I thought the name meant, somehow, that they ate roses (which would also account for the color) and it seemed like such wonderful thing, to have a diet of nothing but lovely flowers.
