Puppies and Pears

Still Life with Three Puppies, 1888 by Paul Gauguin, the Museum of Modern Art, NYC.

This was painted by Gauguin the same year he lived with van Gogh.

I love your site! The concept is brilliant and I love the paintings.

The year he lived with van Gogh? Curious. I would guess more influence by C├ęzanne -- "Sit like an apple!" -- or Matisse, in the objects arrayed on a flat picture plane.

Beautiful painting. I had never seen it.

That's a cute touch-having boisterous, hyperactive puppies in a still life. Not sure if I've ever seen a still life with any kind of animals, for that matter.
