Newburyport Marshes: Approaching Storm by Martin Johnson Heade, Terra Foundation for American Art.

Heade's paintings of landscapes, flowers, birds and nature improve upon their subjects by making every detail stand out. The small elements are just as important as the larger ones and give his artwork a remarkable richness.

An amazing Martin Johnson Heade painting has just been discoverd and is going up for auction with Skinner in May 2006. Some guy had it and had no idea what it was worth ;)

I didn't find a more detailed/bigger image of the painting showed on your blog.
But by clicking on one of the provided links, I was abble to see a trully magnificent piece : "Cattleya Orchid and Three Brazilian Hummingbirds".
The balance between reality and a somewhat fantasy is perfect.

Kind regards,
